Bowel Detox used to be known as Bowel Build. Nature's Sunshine changed the name several years ago, but the formula remained the same.
Bowel Detox is probably a more accurate name due to its ingredients and their functions. This particular formula is filled with detoxifying agents, or components that remove various types of unwanted substances from the colon. It also contains a small amount of cascara sagrada, which is an herbal laxative.
Psyllium is one of the main ingredients. It is a very efficient fiber that can absorb many times its weight in water. As it absorbs water, it pulls in other things (toxic substances) with it. As with any good fiber supplement, you should drink plenty of pure water during use--otherwise bloating and/or constipation may occur. This formula also uses bentonite, a volcanic clay substance that is also a favorite for detoxifying programs. Bentonite does a good job of absorbing unwanted toxins--as does charcoal, another ingredient. Algin has been used to remove heavy metals. Chlorophyll is a deodorizer and is also a favorite component for colon cleansing.
In short, this formula is a favorite among many people for a reason. It does a good job of doing exactly what it is supposed to do.
